Kitchens are all about functionality and design. Corner kitchens, on the other hand, can seem awkward in design. But with the right setup, they're actually quite useful. In smaller homes, corner kitchens can help to maximize the space. The countertop corner makes a great space for kitchen decor, out of the way of the cooking area. And you can still fit plenty of storage space into a corner kitchen, as you'll see below.

If you're unsure of the best way to design your kitchen with a corner, then consider these designs and how they utilise the space.

1. Seaside

This kitchen takes advantage of the large windows, providing plenty of light throughout the space. We love the look of the sea foam, grey, and white colour scheme. With this design, there's room for both the windows and overhead cabinets.

2. Baby Blue

This corner kitchen is washed in baby blue tones — a really retro look for an apartment in the city. With funky cabinets and enough countertop space for cooking, this small kitchen hits all the right notes.

3. Simple Cream and Grey

A spacious and bright kitchen, this design allows for plenty of decor and simplicity. If you like a kitchen that doesn't look too busy, keep cabinets below the counter and use wall space for decorations instead.

4. Light and Bright

We love the look of this light, airy kitchen, perfect for near the beach. With a large window over the countertop, this is a great space to prepare meals day in and day out.

5. Mellow Yellow

Interesting designs like this kitchen make us want to redesign our own home — the open storage spaces above for decor look so fun here. Bright yellow tones help to brighten this kitchen making for an unexpected look.

6. Contemporary lines

This kitchen looks contemporary and sleek with its minimalistic design. For a similar look, stick to neutral tones and basic shapes.

7. All-white

If you want an open and bright space no matter the weather, opt for an all-white design. Do install lighting and don't rely on the windows. This sprawling corner kitchen would be a great space for cooking major meals.

8. Contrasting cabinets

If you like dark woods, consider choosing lighter countertops — they'll catch the light and brighten up the space.

9. Dark and daring

Dark cabinets below and overhead look rich in this kitchen. The light countertops help to brighten the room, while the backsplash looks fun and modern. A great design for a young city dweller.

10. Country sleek

Country and urban meet in this kitchen, with a sleek granite island and lovely corner design. Utilising the space by putting the appliances to one side and cabinets to the other can be a smart move.

11. Pop of green

With a corner kitchen, sometimes it's hard to light up the whole space equally. By adding a backsplash or something of interest to the wall, you can brighten the corners.

12. Tangerine dream

Tangerine is an underrated colour in the kitchen — not only does it look fun and summery, the colour also livens up this space and makes it memorable.

13. Stone splash

Adding stonework or other unique details can make a corner kitchen more interesting to the eye. Also consider adding decorative shelving above the countertops instead of more cabinets.

14. Real teal

Teal might not be the first colour that comes to mind when you think of kitchens, but this shade can look luxuriously rich in the right space. Do ensure you have plenty of light when opting for darker colours in the kitchen.

15. Extending corners

Just because you have a corner kitchen, you don't have to lack storage. If you need more cabinet space, it can look great to have them run together on both walls.

16. Glossy and glam

For a glossy, glam kitchen, try to bring in texture. Install granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, which are both durable and appealing options.

17. Woodsy neutrals

Neutrals don't have to be boring — consider this kitchen, where wood looks chic and woodsy. Opting for neutral tones and rustic textures, like wood and granite, add dimension to your kitchen.

18. Warm and radiant

Warm lights can be a good idea even if you have plenty of light — they won't be as harsh while you're cooking away day and night. For corner kitchens, make sure the light extends to both areas.

19. Clean and classic

One way to make a corner kitchen more interesting is to enclose it with an island or kitchen bar. You'll be able to reach everything while making drinks or feeding the kids.

20. Rustic charm

Another take on rustic with contemporary influences — this mousy grey looks fun with natural wood. While there's minimal cabinet space, there's plenty of countertop space for prepping and chopping.

21. Functional and fun

This bluish grey kitchen looks fun with a beautiful wood countertop and stainless steel appliances. We love that you can organise your corner kitchen into a space of your own — how will you do so?
