South African architect professionals, Coetzee Alberts Architects, are going to inspire and delight us today with a very impressive renovation.

These architects have taken a very old-fashioned, boring and uninspiring home and transformed it into a modern masterpiece that is as comfortable and functional as it is cutting-edge and stylish.

As we go through this before and after, you'll see how a bit of touches here and there can create a whole new design. Perhaps by looking at this home, you'll be inspired to make a few changes to your own home.

Before: Boring

There is nothing wrong with the home before the renovation, but we can see that it is very boring and basic.

It features a plain white facade, a red roof and old-fashioned brick paving, which does nothing to enhance the facade. Even the balustrades are outdated!

This home is set on a beautiful property, but it is completely under-utilized. The satellite on the corner of the building is also quite an eyesore.

The entire home looks very pale and washed out. If you walked past it, you wouldn't take a second glance.

After: Modern and stylish

Can you believe the difference?

The designers have played with the space available to them, creating a modern and chic home that owns the property it is on. Different volumes, layers and shapes spill out onto the beautiful garden, while new and modern materials have been integrated and included in the design.

The designers have used different shades of grey to enhance the facade, while soft lights illuminate the detail and design. Large glass sliding doors have been installed, opening the home up onto the exterior space. This visually and physically expands the living area and makes much better use of the garden.

Don't you love the stone tiled stairs that lead down from the house onto the garden?

After: A different angle

In this image, we can see how the designers have added some stone cladding to the facade, which adds an earthy and rustic touch to the look and feel of the exterior space. This blends the home into the beautiful garden and surrounds, while the pot plants and neatly organized garden beds enhance the home design.

The designers have also added a little terrace nook, furnished with two simple but stylish wooden chairs. This is the perfect cozy space for the family to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine in a more intimate setting.

The garden itself has also been greatly improved. The designers have cleaned the grass up and planted some beautiful trees around the perimeter of the property. The lush greenery makes for a very warm and cozy home.

After: The interiors

If we make our way into the home, we come across very warm and earthy tones thanks to the sandy colored walls and cream tiled floors. This immediately creates an interior that feels like a little haven.

The dining room features a gorgeous wooden table and chairs. Wood is a timeless material for any home, merging rustic charm with contemporary design.

The artwork on the walls introduces personality and charm, reminding is that this is a family home.

After: Open plan

If we look at the living area a bit more broadly, we can see that there is an open plan design with each room flowing into the next. This opens up the home, making it seem that much more spacious and bright.

Natural light enhances this effect thanks to the large glass windows and doors. It also keeps the home freshly ventilated and naturally warmed up.

We can see how the designers have added a vase of flowers to this space, bringing in some natural decor from the outside. This is very subtle and refreshing!

After: Living in the light

In this area of the home, we can see how a little living space opens up onto the garden and exterior space. This is the perfect area for relaxing during the summer or winter months! During summer, the doors can be kept open for fresh air, while in winter the doors can be kept closed with the sunshine naturally insulating the room.

We can see an indoor barbeque in this space too, which is wonderful! It allows the family to come together in front of warm fires or cook up a storm in a more casual setting.

The wooden sofa and armchair and plush cushions ensure that this is a more comfortable and relaxing space for social interactions.

After: The trendy kitchen

The kitchen is one of the sleekest rooms in the house with its modern technology and shiny silver appliances.

The designers have gone for an open plan design, keeping this kitchen looking spacious and bright. The kitchen island in the middle of the room provides an extra area for preparing food as well as storing cutlery, crockery and glassware neatly away.

Kitchen islands are a wonderful addition to any modern kitchen. They also provide a more casual space to catch up over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Have a look at these kitchen islands to treasure.

The designers have gone for mocha tones in this space, truly making the kitchen the heart and soul of the home while keeping it consistent with the rest of the interior design.
