Step into a house full of culture and tradition, where simplicity reigns supreme.

Yes, you heard us right. The interior designers at Portuguese Soul achieved the seemingly impossible and created a three storey minimalist wonderland that never let go of its roots.

Smooth white walls and crisp colour palettes provide a clean modern backdrop for homely local crafts, decades-old family portraits and treasured heirlooms, proving that minimalist and eclectic are two styles that can sit comfortably together.

Let's take the tour…

1. The classic house is tall and slim, with a freshly-painted facade.

2. It may look small, but appearances can be deceiving.

We also love that wrought iron micro-balcony!

3. Nothing says 'come on in' like a glossy, postbox red front door.

4. The entrance space is fun and functional. There's ample space to hang odds and ends, and the red brick tile floor complements the front door nicely.

5. Can you believe how bright this space is? The designers fused traditional Portuguese handiwork with a modern design aesthetic to create a truly unique dining room.

6. The beautiful old-fashioned staircase has been left intact, and historic family portraits hang on the clean white walls.

7. The bedroom is a haven of serenity. All-white except for the shabby chic bedhead and wooden accents, it takes boho minimalism to amazing new heights.

8. An ornate wicker chair is placed by the window and is jazzed up by a crocheted cushion in shades of cream and Mediterranean blue.

9. From this angle we can see just how this bedroom is so flooded with natural light – not one, but two large windows!

Thankfully, these windows also have shutters to block out the blistering midday sun, creating the ideal room temperature for a siesta.

10. A little more colour is introduced into this guest bedroom thanks to a careful selection of locally made crafts and blankets.

11. The theme of the master bedroom is purple, but not that tacky lilac shade from your childhood. No, this space deals in damson, tyrian, and mauve.

12. Large french doors open out onto the tiny balcony, and ample storage is provided thanks to that gorgeous antique dresser, which has been lovingly restored and painted purple

13. Back to the kitchen, where we can see just how much the shabby chic aesthetic has influenced the designers. We'd do anything to get our hands on that cabinet!

14. The bathroom continues the modern classic theme, with whitewashed walls, modern shower fixtures, and ornate 20th century furniture contrasting and complementing each other.

15. The final bathroom is a beauty – that shimmering metallic wall would make anyone feel like a king as soon as they stepped into the shower.
