When you think of your dream home, what do you dream of? Is it something enormous with luxurious and flashy? Or is it more along the lines of quiet and serene made from raw natural materials? If it's the latter, you'll love this the home we have to show you today.
From the architects at the Takeshi Hinaki Architects Design Office have taken natural homes to a whole new level.Rich and organic texture, colour, and fragrance comprise the home and are not only noteworthy in terms of construction material and aesthetic, but also as a healing space for the body and mind. Instead of being extravagant, this home is simple and comfortable and gives off a humble and sunny aura.
We now introduce to you a natural wooden home that takes on traditional Japanese architectural design and creates an interior anyone would be jealous of.
Our home today isn't ostentatious in the least, but it is eye-catching. Made from unfinished and varying types of wood, the exterior blends in with the breathtaking surrounding landscape. The roof is pronounced and is lean in its design, which gives this home a striking aesthetic and makes it stand out among the others. The foremost section of the home is raised from the ground about 50 centimetres and fashions a lovely terrace right near the front garden.
The unique structure allows wind to flow freely through each room of the home, bringing the fresh aroma of blossoming flowers and growing trees. These thin wooden slits give privacy to the interior by providing a slight visual block, but fresh air and good energy can breeze right through.
On the ground floor of the building, we have a perfectly proportionate multifunctional living area that combines with the dining room. Wooden tables and benches and decorations such as vases and plants make this home more natural than most interiors we get to visit. Both high and low levels are implemented, and a tatami-style floor attributes the traditional Japanese aesthetic. Mixing a number of different elements in this space doesn't overwhelm us, and that's because they all have the unifying element of wood to balance them out. Although the house is somewhat compact, the creative interior design allows for adaptation.
The open face of this home links the interior with the exterior so that natural light has no problem getting in, but also so that it isn't so strong that it blinds upon entry. The only decoration we see in this space are the light and dark shadows of different textures cast by the varying wooden shapes, and it's enough to grab our attention while simultaneously tempering us.
On the second storey, there is also a large space complete with tatami mat, which adds warmth and even temperature control options to the room. Shoji doors enclose this space and they were also used as blinds for the windows, which we can see straight ahead.
You guessed it… Even the bathroom isn't devoid of wooden materials. There are two bathing options here, which is typical of the Japanese style home. There's a standing shower to wash all of the day's dirt from your body, and then there's a bath tub to soak away the stress once you're done with the shower.
And so we end our tour with another breathtaking view of the exterior. With the sun shining and plants in full bloom, we can't think of a more idyllic place to rest our heads. This home is more than one that leaves a stylish impression on us. Even though we've only taken a virtual tour of this place, we can still feel our spirits lifted and our minds relaxed.
