House of Pleasures, located close to the bustling city of Lisbon, is going to hit the right note with you. It is designed for a family of ardent rock‘n’roll followers. But that is not the sole reason for its lyrical beauty. Sa&V—Sa Aranha & Vasconcelos, responsible for the creative design of this private villa, infused it with a melodious charm.

Ancient Roman architect Vitruvius believed that a good architect must also “understand music”. His words reverberate in the interior of this beautiful villa. Let’s step inside and find out what this house has in store for us…

Overview

The interior décor of the House of Pleasures is defined by a neutral colour palette, eclectic style and relaxing charm. An array of framed guitars decorates the walls. Images of rock'n'roll heroes cloak the pendant lighting and pillars. Cosy couches have been brightened up with snug cushions in contrasting shades.

The interior showcases a youthful verve which is characteristic of Sa&V—Sa Aranha & Vasconcelos designs. It seems their experience, which spans over three decades, has only enhanced their capability of creating a very spirited atmosphere for any home that they choose to stylise.

Cosy chat zone

Another private chat area has been set up close to the stairway. A couple of spotless white sofas are the main attraction here. They needed to fend off stiff competition from two charming chandeliers, and a glass top coffee table with an unusual oval shape.

The double height space has large windows affording panoramic views of the city. Framed modern paintings are stacked against the wall.

Billiard room

The opposite end of the living room is dedicated to a small billiard parlour and bar counter. Shades of white and coffee dominate this space too. A monochromatic rug has been spread on the wooden flooring.

Prim white bar stools huddle around a long counter. This space has been illuminated by ceiling mounted recessed lighting.

The master bedroom

The relaxed interior of the bedroom feels comforting. Apart from a simple bed with an elaborate striped headboard, a few stools, an ottoman and a chaise lounge also occupy this space. Two framed mirrors jazz up the walls behind the nightstands.

Shelves with reflective surfaces are stylised with musical mementos. Lighting fixtures are in tune with the rest of the space.

Secondary bedroom

The secondary bedroom has a simpler yet equally graceful décor. An upholstered bed has been placed in the centre of the room. Modern bedside tables, an upholstered bench, an oval mirror and shelves adorned with black and white photographs are the other noteworthy features of this room.

Wall mounted wardrobes are located on one side of the bedroom. The monochromatic area rug shows a dark blue tint, which is quite a deviation from some of the other parts of the building that use white rugs to add light to the space.

Home office and study

Welcome to the spacious home office, decorated with a contemporary study table and chair. A large and snug armchair is placed in front of the table. This space reveals another passion of the owners. They also happen to be motorcycle lovers, and you can see one of their prominent collections exhibited in this study area.

Large windows provide generous views of the surroundings. Courtesy of their presence, the interior enjoys a liberal amount of natural light. The already charming décor literally glistens in the bright sunshine. It also provides us with some valuable tips about how to decorate a home in comfort and style.
